We have started posting the Green Hills of New Earth over at fanfiction.net. If you don't remember what Voyager's Virtual Season 7.5 is, the first 39 episodes are posted there too. http://www.fanfiction.net/u/139635/Voyager-Season-7-5
Here is the FAQ we posted almost a decade ago, just to remind people why we decided to redo Voyager's season 7, starting with the episode Shattered.
VIRTUAL SEASON 7.5
Penny
1. What's the point? I thought season 7 was just fine, and "Endgame" rocked.
A: And we respect that. It's just that we didn't. In fact, the mere mention of the word "Endgame" is enough to cause the blood pressure of some of our staff to skyrocket. (In deference to these health issues, we refer to it as "That Show.") This project isn't simply a reaction to That Show; it's a statement that we, loyal fans for all seven years, believe that Voyager deserved – and needed – more than a single episode to wrap up its story.
2. Aw, come on. The truth is, you're just a bunch of bitter old J/Cers who aren't happy that Seven ended up with Chakotay.
A: Old? It depends on your perspective. We like to think of ourselves as experienced. Bitter? That's a little harsh. Frankly, the C/7 relationship that sprang full blown from the mind of Braga in That Show was so badly done that we have trouble taking it seriously. So we're not bitter about C/7, we're just irritated.
But yes, there are several J/Cers on the staff, along with P/Ters and hopeless romantics in general. Consider yourself warned.
3. Your readership is mostly women. Why don't you drop the action stuff and focus on the love stories?
A: We believe that the exploration of relationships is a legitimate facet of any drama, including science fiction. However, we are trying to write stories that could have been aired on television, which means that we strive for a balance of plot, action, and characterization along with relationships. Since we're in this for the long haul, some episodes may focus more on one aspect than another, but taken as a whole, we're hoping for a blend of all these elements. If we are successful, we believe readers of any gender will enjoy this Project.
Also, see question #4 below.
4. If I wanted to read Harlequin romances, I'd buy them at the grocery store. Why don't you focus on science fiction stories?
