Hey...

I suppose I should introduce myself. I'm Jennie, and I'm new to this
group. and wow, that didn't sound much like I was at an AA meeting did
it?

Annnnnyyyyywaaaaayyy...

I'm not a new writer, I've been writing gen, het and slash fiction for
various fandoms for nearly 10 years, but I am new to this fandom in
terms of writing for it, (I've been lurking about reading for a little
while now.) and I've been a fan of Star Trek sinse by brother
litterally pinned me down and terrified the life out of me by making
me watch the Wrath of Khan when I was 4. (I've only just been able to
watch that film through again without cowering behind the sofa... yes
I know its not THAT scary... and yes I know its awesome and brilliant
and awesome again, but when you're 4 its as scary as holy hell, and
The Voyage Home is much more suitable and was greatly enjoyed many
times by my pre-teen self, much to my brother's chargrine... serves
him right!)

So, back to the point. I'm totally besotted by DS9, and By Julian
Bashir in general (and I was from when the serious first came out... I
even had a poster on my wall. I need help, I know this.) but now I
have an idea for a story, a Bashir/OMC AU/'What If' slash story and I
need a beta for it. Its not smutty I might add, since although I can
read it, and can certainly think it, I turn bright scarlet if I try to
write it and lose the ability to form coherant words. I can tend
towards the darker side of things, and have been known to be very mean
to my favourite characters, but if anyone would like to help me out
here, or if anyone would even be interested in reading something like
this at all (I know how fandoms die, as a Buffy writer of many years I
know all too well about dying fandoms, and I know how this might just
not be of interest to anyone), I'd appriciated the input.

Look forward to responses.

Jen

OOH... PS. I appriciate that this might not be exactly the right
group, I've seen mention but can't find a link to the adult group, so
if someone could point me in the right direction if I've got this
wrong, I'd be much obliged.

Welcome, Jennie! We really could use more DS9 fiction here! Though slash
isn't my thing, even if it's not graphic. I just can't see Julian that way
myself. Others can though, so go ahead and write it and maybe one or two of
those others will be willing to beta.

And, BTW, I've been known to do some fairly mean things to the poor doctor,
myself. And now my alter-ego is doing them to Malcolm Reed (and Hoshi
Sato), so you're not alone in that category, for sure!

*sputters incoherantly* *gibbers like a loon* You're... You're...
You're Gabrielle Lawson!!!! *faints*

OK... I had to get that out of my system. But damn, to have you reply
to me is like.... OK, can still breathe. But I want to take this
opportunity to say you are the goddess of bashir fiction. Your stories
are practically my bible. Everytime I read them, once I've finished
sobbing my heart out, I want to punch the air and scream YES! finally
someone else who wants to bitch slap Sisko for dropping poor Julian in
the kaplooy then leaving him high dry! Finally someone who realises
that Julian has a backbone dammit!

I also want to assure you if you see anything familiar in my story (if
I post it) then it isn't intentional plagerism, (personally I beleive
that plagerists should be easten alive by voles, cardassian or
otherwise) but that you have been such an influence on me that
something may slip through. I always intended to credit you in my
disclaimer as an influencing factor, and I sincerely hope you don't
mind. I would have tried to contacted you in person before posting,
the last thing I would want to do is offend you, or any fellow writer
for that matter.

Oh yeah, that realy got me when Sisko said he was to say "Yes" to Section 31
and then just disappeared when Jadzia died.

I know how that is. Go ahead and say in the disclaimer that my stories were
an influencing factor and I'm sure we'll be fine. I didn't write slash, so
you won't be plagerizing me there. ;-)

Oops, replied with the other "me." Yes, I'm Philippe de la Matraque as well
as Gabrielle Lawson and Ainaechoiriel if you float in Lord of the Rings
waters, too. I sometimes get confused as to which one of me is sending to
this group. (Though, Ainae doesn't post here, so she's not so much of a
problem.)

I do indeed float in the LOTR waters. reading more than writing at the
moment, and my perchant is for Legolas centric, although I do write
RPS in that fandom. I'll have to look up your stuff.

as for my bashir fic, still looking for a beta, and still in the early
stages of writing. although I originally thought to make it a slash
story, the more I write, the more I'm having trouble deciding whether
i want it to be. it could be just a friendship story. *shrug* either
way, maybe one day it'll get posted.

thanks for your replies.
